Daniel Chen

Hi I’m Daniel. I’m a Lecturer at the University of British Columbia. I primary teach Data Science tooling through the Statistics department, and through the Master’s of Data Science program at UBC.
Previously, I was a data science educator and developer advocate at Posit, PBC. They are the authors of a TON of open source data science tools, some of which are used in this tutorial. They’ll be in the PyCon US 2026 Expo hall (booth 539), so check them out!
